Bustling about Bulgaria

We were delighted to be invited to attend the ECVET annual conference which was hosted in Sofia, Bulgaria this year, as the event follows the home of the Presidency of the Council of the EU.

This year’s theme focused on ‘Using ECVET for Longer Duration Mobility’ and Marcus from REY Europe was pleased to host a “project incubator” session, which addressed some of the practical challenges faced in validating learning outcomes achieved overseas, with a home based accrediting body.

The conference was very insightful, providing an overview of the policy context for ECVET in the medium terms as well identifying the challenges we face in ensuring that skills within the VET sector remain current, within a rapidly evolving globalised labour market.

There were also plenty of chances for networking between employers, national agencies and VET providers interested in long duration mobilities.

Participants were treated to a Bulgarian cultural dance performance and dinner at the end of the event for a taste of Sofia, making it an enjoyable affair through and through!
