The motivation

This was my first time traveling abroad on my own so I found this to be quite a challenge but I thought this placement would be a perfect opportunity to travel on my own.

I felt like this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience work life in a different country. I also wanted to see how I’m able to live on my own in a different country.

The placement

My work placement was a lot more relaxed compared to the work experience I completed back in the UK last year.

I used independent thinking and problem solving to think about what I can film for the Discovery Safari, my work placement. I made two simple films which explained what Discovery Safari is all about.

The first film I made was on a safari trip. There was lots of scenery to shoot like mountains, beaches and small villages. This was an amazing moment to use my filmmaking skills and make an exciting film.

I learnt how to work independently to re-edit my films, and make them look and sound better. 

The location

I stayed in a town called Rethymno. It was very historic and scenic with the surrounding buildings and beach. There are lots of local restaurants, bars and cafes.

I really enjoyed the beach, swimming in the sea and having a drink on the beach.

Everyone in Rethymno is very friendly and helpful, which is really good to see.
