People won't care about you so be confident and enjoy your time to the fullest because I guarantee you the locals will probably never see you again for the rest of their life as you are only there for a temporary amount of time. So stop thinking and start doing.
The motivation
Although I’ve travelled outside the UK before, I’ve never gone by myself. My school applied for me and I would get to see how a business works.
The placement
I learnt that for a business to run smoothly employees must like each other. The company I was working at, every single employee liked and spoke good of each other and were also super friendly to approach. My biggest achievement during my placement was after failing a couple times I learnt how to change bike tyres easily which made me feel very achieved.
The location
Even if experiencing the country was nice getting to meet new people was also nice but I think what I liked best was getting closer to my friends before the trip everyone was kind of fond of each other but that trip brought everyone closer together it helped a lot with all our rooms being next to each other which meant we were constantly in each other’s rooms just vibing and enjoying life. Even if I did work looking back on it, it felt like a holiday and I will forever cherish this trip.
The impact
I have learned so much about myself and also developed my technical skills from this experience and hope to do an apprenticeship in the UK next. My advice for future participants would be for them to just be themselves and to treat others how they would like to be treated.
My Erasmus+ placement was the first time I had worked in my field and I was able to apply the knowledge that I gained from the course in the company that I worked at.
