“Being in a foreign country allows you to focus more on self-development and growing as an individual as you are far away from everyone you know. It was an educational experience which you could not get from school!”
The motivation
I wanted to gain independence and boost my CV for my plans after college. I was one of the first to be selected as I had worked hard and excelled on my course through the year, and represented the college in competitions.
The placement
My actual work placement was based around my existing knowledge of website development (on Wix), but I had the chance to learn new softwares such as Joomla to compare functionality. I also attended meetings and developed my confidence in a professional working environment.
The location
I arrived in Prague with an eager mind and began exploring on my own before advising other students to visit the historical sites I had discovered. We became fast friends whilst living in an apartment together, and sharing experiences.
I embraced living independently, budgeting efficiently and organising my own day. I made new friends with the students I travelled with whom I have maintained contact, and also shared facebook profiles with locals, expats and other Erasmus students.

The impact
Being in a foreign country allows you to focus more on self-development and growing as an individual as you are far away from everyone you know. It was incredibly character building which I have included in my CV.
I have just reached the final stages of a degree apprenticeship opportunity with Ford and also have an offer to study computing at Surrey university.
