The placement
The work placements were tough but gave us all a new look at how different companies operate using IT.
I learnt how to use a range of new systems and got a head start on what a future career in IT will look like.
It was interesting to be in a new culture and see how different people use computer systems in their day to day lives. I got to play about with Czech user interfaces and see how they differ from English systems.
The learning
I gained computing knowledge and now understand a completely new programming language. I have a much better grasp on how IT based companies around the world operate and communicate with each other.
I have developed my IT skills during this placement as well as becoming more confident in my day to day life. I am able to more confidently talk to strangers in public and can talk to people more openly.
Living with a group of people who I didn’t know very well was one of my main concerns but in the end I believe we all became close mates and will stay in contact.
The location
I got to experience a brand new city and culture with a good group of people who all shared a common interest. In our spare time we got to explore the city and see the sights.
The impact
The placement has given me a headstart on experiencing the real work of industry. If I apply for a job like this in the future I will already have basic knowledge of what I need to do and be able to find my place much faster.
It has helped me to become more independent in my learning, meaning that I can fit in faster in any job placement. I definitely feel like this experience will benefit me later in life.
