The motivation
The Barking and Dagenham College Rugby Academy supported the trip to Perpignan, as we believed that it would be an excellent experience for all involved and offer something that teaching in the college classes could not.
The placement
Whilst abroad, the students were given different opportunities to develop not just as rugby players but as individuals. They showed great maturity by living and travelling independently.
The students appreciated the opportunity to learn the French styles of playing rugby. Some had never travelled abroad before so a fully funded placement was the opportunity of a lifetime.
Personal Development
Some students really stood out to me in terms of using their initiative to solve challenges and develop themselves.
The impact
It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for students to see how other countries’ Rugby teams work and learn about a different culture.
