For a person who hadn’t travelled for 14yrs, the Caribbean was a mind blow. Such lovely people, unbelievable tourist attractions, I was just blessed!
The motivation
I wanted to gain the memory of what it was like travelling on planes, as I’d only ever been on a ferry before.
The placement was a chance to gain further knowledge and experience! Knowing that the placement was in a different location, I knew that it would be a different lifestyle and I thought, how great it would be to live and breathe another culture!
The placement
The work placements were very simple. I enjoyed coaching the primary children, they were very playful and polite. It was great to learn how the charity works around the culture.
My biggest learning experience was always to progress the sessions, giving the participants a good challenge. An achievement for myself in the placement was being confident giving instructions and implementing ideas.

The impact
This placement has 100% helped me with my future goals. I’d like to become a coach: not just for amateur club within the UK, but for clubs worldwide/ charities(UTS). I’ve just started Uni, studying ‘Sports and Exercise Science, and they help students travel to various destinations like playing sports internationally which would be incredible.
