The social aspect was one of the most rewarding parts of the trip. I enjoyed meeting people from different backgrounds and forming new friendships. These social interactions with others enabled me to improve my communication abilities and I now feel confident in working with diverse groups.
The assessment
The assessment used friendly professional methods which helped to decrease anxiety for the 24 students of HRUC. The activities allowed us to show our skills and demonstrate our dedication to the program. I found great value in being able to meet other applicants and discover their personal histories.
The placement
The trip reached its peak when we established direct connections with local communities through our placement activities. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people while discovering their cultural traditions and making a positive difference through my work in teaching and childcare and coaching.
The location
Port Elizabeth makes an ideal placement location because it offers various activities and beautiful natural areas and its diverse community. The city provides a unique cultural experience, and the local organizations are passionate about their work, which made my placement feel meaningful. The location serves as an ideal spot for people who want to create change while they discover unfamiliar territory.
The impact
I experienced a complete life transformation through this journey. The experience pushed me to leave my safe space, which resulted in my ability to learn new abilities while I gained understanding of worldwide problems and various cultural traditions. The friendships I formed and the memories I made will stay with me forever. I appreciate this opportunity because it enables me to make a significant contribution while I develop both personally and professionally.
