Whether coaching in primary schools, teaching swimming to beginners, leading classroom sessions, or providing childcare to underprivileged children, our students consistently demonstrated remarkable potential.

My observations about South Africa

South Africa has made remarkable strides in advancing equality and diversity since the apartheid era, though challenges persist.

Funding shortages were evident across all schools, necessitating extensive fundraising efforts. Infrastructure disparities reflected broader socioeconomic divides, with under-resourced schools facing dilapidated facilities.

Language policies, notably the abrupt transition to English in the fourth grade, posed challenges.

Despite obstacles, we encountered remarkable leadership and witnessed the transformative potential of inclusive education in special needs schools.

Meaningful connections

On the journey home, we all wore custom-made hoodies featuring the HRUC logo, which garnered significant attention. People approached us at the airport and on the plane, intrigued by our attire and eager to learn more about our endeavors.
