Success for our first group in South Africa

10 learners from HRUC were lucky enough to spend a month in South Africa, working in schools and nurseries in townships in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth)

The group were joined by Sultan Soukani, Assistant Principal at HRUC and Liam Plumridge, Head of Employability at HRUC.

It was a life changing opportunity trip for staff and learners. Staff have shared some their highlights with us.

Our students have simply been amazing examples of how incredible young people can be. They have been coaching in primary schools, teaching swimming to many who have never swam before, teaching in classrooms and working in childcare with some of the most underprivileged children. They have been leading their own sessions and being the most incredible ambassadors.

Four of our students also got the amazing chance to coach with the Head Coach of the South Africa Women’s Soccer Team.

This has been life changing for everyone involved. These students have changed so much and have developed both relevant skills and personal growth, transforming wholly to become better contributors to the future workforce.
