Understanding My Journey Project Kickoff Meeting

Last week, we met 7 new European partner organisations, welcoming them to our offices in London for the kick off meeting of the Understanding My Journey (UMJ) project.

Our partners for this project are Ballymun Job Centre (Ireland)Anespo (Portugal)Asociación Dianova España, (Spain)IFOA (Italy), Oaza (Croatia)STRIM (Poland), and Action Synergy (Greece).

Over two days, we had the opportunity to get to know partners and learn more about the work they are doing, which provided much inspiration. We also spent time setting the context for the project and planning our work for the project.

Through the UMJ project, we will work together to achieve our goal of improving young people’s engagement with and ownership of their soft skills development

Over the next two and a half years, we will work in collaboration to develop a toolkit for young people to enable them to tangibly assess their soft skills development, and an app to complement this. We will also produce a toolkit that will enable youth practitioners to facilitate learning around soft skills development, using non-formal learning methodology.

Over the coming months, we will be carrying out a piece of research to explore and understand the most important and relevant soft skills required by young people to enable them to develop both personally and professionally. Through this work, we will engage directly with young people and their practitioners to get their perspective, and will identify trends, approaches and good practice in each partner country. The research will be launched in September 2018.

We’re very much looking forward to working in partnership with such a diverse and dynamic group of partners.
