There are a variety of Engineering placements available. These vary depending on each location.
Our work experience placements across Europe are carefully designed to teach your students valuable skills in their chosen areas of study. We work closely with our network of international partners to ensure that each placement is well structured, and that individuals are given all the support they need.
“I feel like this international placement will help me in the future because I’ve gained some new skills and techniques which I can put into effect while I’m at work in the UK. It has also boosted my confidence so now when I work I feel more confident in my work.”
Some of our placements include:
- Exploring robotics through LEGO
- Learning about 3D printing, automatism and metal structures
- Preparing architectural plans and interior designs
As each placement is unique our students might gain experience in a range of different areas, such as:
- Building and motorising a sample robot
- Learning how to use CAD in an engineering workplace
- Understanding how aeronautical and mechanical industries work
“My advice for future participants is to stay focused on what you’re doing, and make the most of the experience. It’s very much worth it when you put your mind to it, and try to make everything fun and worthwhile. Do it whilst it lasts because you won’t get this opportunity again! You’ll gain lots of experience, whether it’s in or out of the workplace and you’ll carry this with you for life.”
“By living in a different country and working in a new environment, my confidence has grown. The placement confirmed to me that I wanted to carry on in aerospace, but also gave me a clearer idea of the kind of role I wanted to pursue. I decided not to do hands on engineering, but instead looked for a role in project management.”
